Mayor Naheed Nenshi has announced a replacement for City Manager Owen Tobert, who retired in January after 32 years with the city.

Jeff Fielding, currently the City Manager of Burlington, Ontario, will take the top administrative job at city hall. He also spent eight years as City Manager of London, Ontario.

Fielding will officially start his new job in June.

“I believe that council and the citizens of Calgary have their eyes on playing and competing with the very best in the world,” says Fielding. “I’m looking forward to helping build a world class city where the competition is tough, the standards of play are high and the challenge to succeed in the league are even greater.”

Fielding is very familiar with Calgary; he worked for the city in senior administration more than ten years ago.
