Flight instructor, 3 passengers survive crash landing in Pitt Meadows

A flight instructor and his three passengers survived a crash landing in Pitt Meadows on Saturday night, without so much as a scratch.

The four men got out of the Cessna on their own, despite the fact that the plane had completely flipped over on to its roof.

One of the men in the plane said the pilot had offered to take the three men out for a Saturday evening ride, but they were not able to life off the runway. The pilot then tried a ‘Touch and Go’ manoeuvre, where a plane dips on to the runway and lifts off again.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

However, the instructor thought he didn’t have enough power to get back up in the air and tried to land.

The Cessna’s wheels got caught in the grass at the end of the runway, causing the plane to roll.

Correction: The original version of this article incorrectly identified the three passengers as students, however, one of the men contacted us and said they were not on a flying lesson and were colleagues of the pilot.
