Firefighters had to shuttle water in large tankers up to the top of Sumas Mountain Friday night to fight a blaze at a large log home as there is no water supply on top of the mountain.
Crews were called out at about 12:30 a.m. to the home on Taggart Road, which was fully involved when they arrived.
Assistant fire chief Dave Rivett said it appears no one was home when the fire broke out.
“A log home is extremely difficult to fight,” he said. “There’s a lot of fire load in a log home and it’s extremely difficult to put out.”
It is unknown at this time what caused the fire.
