EDMONTON – Edmonton police now say two “persons of interest” seen in surveillance photos released Monday are not believed to have been involved in a March 22 assault.

Police have interviewed the two men and believe they are not connected to the aggravated assault on Edmonton’s south side that left a 41-year-old man in a medically-induced coma.

Monday, police released images of two people and asked for the public’s help in identifying them.

However, after speaking with both of them, police believe the two are neither involved nor witnessed the vicious assault.

The man was brutally beaten around 1 a.m. on Saturday March 22, as he was standing outside a MediCentre in the area of 104 St. and 51 Ave. According to police, he was attacked while waiting for a friend to finish her cleaning shift so he could make sure she got to her car safely.
