5 people lucky to be alive after truck plunges down steep embankment in Clinton

Five people are lucky to be alive after an accident in Clinton early Sunday morning.

RCMP say at about 4:14 a.m. a white 2013 Dodge Ram crew cab truck went over a steep embankment on High Bar Road near Big Bar Road. The truck was travelling northbound on High Bar Road when it failed to initiate a sharp right curve and rolled down a steep embankment.

Three people managed to escape from the car and call for help. Local emergency services including BC Ambulance, the Clinton Fire Rescue, and SAR teams from the 100 Mile House and Kamloops areas all attended and managed to rescue the 30-year-old female driver and a 38-year-old male passenger. Both were taken by air ambulance to the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops with serious injuries.

The other three adults were taken to Ashcroft Hospital by ambulance where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Police have not yet ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash.

Both the driver and passenger remain in hospital and are described as being in stable condition.
