Pilot charged, after gun found in carry-on at Calgary Airport

CALGARY- An American pilot is facing firearms charges, following an incident at the Calgary International Airport.

Last Friday, the Skywest Airlines pilot was trying to clear security, when a loaded gun was discovered in his carry-on luggage.

In a statement to Global News, the Canadian Border Services Agency said in part:

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“Canada’s laws are clear: travellers must declare all goods, including any firearms and weapons in their possession when they enter Canada. Failing to do so may lead to prosecution under the Customs Act. Every person arriving by air must complete a declaration form – the first question addresses the importation of firearms, to which the traveller must select yes or no.”

Joshua Petty White has been charged under the Customs Act and the Criminal Code, and was released on a $4,000 bond. He’s set to appear in court on April 29.
