WATCH: Proposed Public Tobacco Ban in Lumby

Tobacco users in Lumby may have to change their habits.
The Village is considering a proposed by-law that would ban tobacco use in all public parks, trails and even sidewalks.
Currently, there is only a ban on smoking in public parks where there is a sign explicitly forbidding it.
The proposed by-law would become a blanket ban on all parks, as well as trails and sidewalks, and would apply to all tobacco.
Lumby’s Mayor, Kevin Acton, says the goal would be to get tobacco use off the streets, and thereby reduce the number of children exposed to the addictive substances.
