World Water day is this Saturday but students at UBC-Okanagan are starting the celebration early.
The campus kicked off water day celebrations with a live band and barbecue. While the occasion is designed to celebrate the precious resource, it’s also a way to raise awareness about proper water management.
A university professor who organizes the event every year says in the past we in the Okanagan have exploited water for short term economic gains.
He points to the channelization of Okanagan River 50 years ago as an example.
