The woman who tried to save the life of a stabbing victim in Vancouver last month has been identified, according to police.
The woman came forward to speak with investigators after police made a public appeal two days ago, police said Friday.
According to Cst. Brian Montague, the woman provided medical aid to 28-year-old Robert Tyson Smith near Granville and Georgia streets after he was stabbed on the night of Feb. 9.
Smith later died in hospital as a result of the stabbing.
“We want to thank to this woman,” Montague said. “Not only for trying to save a life that night, but for having the courage to do the right thing and come forward to talk with police.”
The death of Smith remains under investigation and charges have not been laid in the case.
