TORONTO – Toronto’s mayoral race is about to heat up as NDP MP Olivia Chow is expected to file her nominations papers at city hall later this month.

The Toronto Star reports Chow is finally ready to jump into the fight for the mayor’s chair after months of speculation and is also prepared to immediately launch her campaign platform.

A senior advisor to the former Toronto city councillor told the newspaper her election team has been finalized and ready to hit the ground.

It is reported that Chow will play up her poor roots growing up in the city with a family who diligently watched their spending habits.
