Molly is still recovering in a foster home, and still has some time to go before she will be able to go to her forever home, but staff at the SPCA Nanaimo branch know where she will be going.

Molly will be spending the rest of her days with one of the RCMP officers who helped rescue her.

The 18-month-old shepherd-cross was rescued last November in what the BC SPCA called ‘one of the most horrific animal cruelty cases they have ever seen‘.

She was horrifically emaciated, tied up on a porch in Port Hardy, with her collar embedded so deeply in her neck it had to be surgically removed.

Rupert Wilson and Crystal Bee of the Fort Rupert Reserve face charges under the Criminal Code of Canada following a BC SPCA investigation. If convicted, they could face a lifetime ban on owning animals, as much as a $10,000 fine, or up to five years in jail.

More than 42,000 people have also signed a change.org petition to apply the maximum sentence against those responsible for Molly’s suffering.

The BC SPCA depends on community donations to fund its cruelty investigations work. To help Molly and other animals, visit their website.
