Some local charities are saying their donations are down substantially this year compared to other years.
Despite there being a Salvation Army Kettle on almost every corner, the charity says their donations for December are down 20 per cent from last year.
That puts the Salvation Army down $800,000 from its goal of raising the four million dollars it needs to maintain its programs.
“They are down from the past years and I don’t know if it’s donor fatigue or what’s happening,” says Captain Glyndon Cross from the Salvation Army. “But we’re not seeing the amounts that we used to see.”
