Family and friends say goodbye to teenage beating victim Karim Meskine

The funeral for 19-year-old Karim Meskine was held today at a Surrey mosque.

Karim was attacked during an attempted robbery near a New Westminster SkyTrain station last Tuesday. Police say he was beaten with a bat and was found unconscious by a passerby.

Friends at the service who spoke to Global News say the family is still trying to cope with the horrific news of Karim’s death.

The beating was so severe that when friends visited Karim in the hospital some say they had to leave the room.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team say Karim did not know his assailant.

The funeral service was held just five days after his 19th birthday. Many of his loved ones are still trying to come to terms with his tragic death.
