Push to densify housing around West Island train stations running up against local opposition

The highly-anticipated arrival of the REM has encouraged high-density development across the greater Montreal area. Many believe that repurposing vacated or under-utilized lots into mixed-use buildings will meet the demand for local housing and encourage people to use public transit.
