Nova Scotia mass shooting inquiry calls for change to ‘existing culture’ of RCMP

Mass Casualty Commission commissioner Leanne Fitch said on Thursday that among the recommendations of the inquiry is to see the "existing culture" of the RCMP change to address community and specific well-being needs. She said this includes amending the RCMP Act to "clarify the relationship" between the police force's commissioner and the public safety minister, proper resources for civilian review and complaints commission, and a community-wide process in Nova Scotia to discuss the structure of policing in the province.
