A close call in Cobourg Thursday afternoon after a 45-gallon barrel of highly corrosive acid fell off the back of a tractor trailer. Cobourg fire and police were called to the bridge on County Rd. 2 just east of Normar Rd. around 4 pm. The driver of the transport carrying the barrel had just made a delivery in the area and had forgotten to close the back door. The driver retraced the route back to Cobourg after realizing the error. The container did stay intact with no leaks.
