U.S. election: Biden says inauguration must focus on keeping people safe

U.S. president-elect Joe Biden on Friday, when asked about the inauguration which often more than one million people gather along the Washington Mall and surrounding areas, said that the key was “keeping people safe” from COVID-19. He said they can’t do a “super version of the president’s announcement in the Rose Garden nationwide,” possibly referring to President Donald Trump’s announcement in September of Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court which saw dozens gather and was later called a “superspreader event” by Dr. Anthony Fauci after numerous people who attended tested positive for COVID-19.
