Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva said on March 4 that although the COVID-19 outbreak will “eventually retreat,” there is no firm timeline for when that will happen. The virus’ shock to the economy affects both supply and demand on a global scale, Georgieva said, due to deaths and the containment efforts, which lead to higher costs of doing business due to restricted supply chains.
