RCMP officers responsible for maintaining peace: Blair
Description
February 20, 2020
Canadian Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair said on Thursday that the RCMP have informed Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs on their decision to redeploy officers to a nearby town as a "direct response" to the chiefs' concerns. The Wet'suwet'en oppose the Coastal GasLink pipeline, which would run through their territory in B.C. This opposition has caused people to protest in solidarity, blocking railway lines across Canada.
