Trudeau says Conservatives ‘played politics’ with Rona Ambrose’s proposed legislation

Responding to a question in the House of Commons Wednesday on Bill C-5, an Act to amend the Judges Act and the Criminal Code, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “disappointed” that Parliament couldn’t move forward with similar legislation, put forward by Conservative MP Rona Ambrose, because her party chose to “play politics” instead of try and pass the bill into law. If passed, Bill C-5 it would ensure that all newly appointed provincial superior court judges undergo training to learn about the stereotypes still associated with sexual assault.
