Description
March 31, 2014
Join 16x9 on Monday, March 31 from 8-10pm ET for a live blog discussion about a new generation of young, healthy men who are suffering from what some call “porn-induced erectile dysfunction.” Chat live with experts and other young men about this troubling men’s health issue on www.globalnews.ca.
[scribblelive id="506922" type="embed" height="800"]
16x9: GENERATION X-RATED
There’s a growing trend of healthy men from their teens to thirties using medications like Viagra and Cialis, drugs intended for older men and men with health-related erectile dysfunction.
But many of the young men using the drugs have a condition that is psychological rather than physiological. These young men are turning to pills to try and overcome a condition called “porn-induced erectile dysfunction.”
The massive increase in consumption of online porn by young men is causing the condition that means they can’t engage in ordinary sexual relations. For these men, porn has led to erectile dysfunction and that’s led to misuse of drugs like Viagra and Cialis. And most young guys aren't talking about it openly just yet. They're talking about it online, anonymously, looking for answers about why their bodies are failing them. Some are even suicidal.
16x9 talked to one young man who used to be one of those guys, and now he's telling his most personal secret to the world, in hopes of helping guys just like him get their bodies working again.

GUEST BLOGGERS

Gabe Deem
Three years ago, Gabe suffered from “porn-induced sexual dysfunction.” He says he became addicted to online pornography and by age 23, he was unable to become aroused by a real woman. Gabe tried popular erectile dysfunction medications like Viagra and Cialis, but that didn’t work, because he says, “my problem was in my brain, not below the belt.” Gabe recovered – or “rebooted” – his body’s normal sexual function by ceasing to watch pornography. It was a painful withdrawal that took nine months. Gabe recently launched a website to help other young men heal from so-called porn-induced sexual dysfunction. He joins us from Irving, Texas.
