Montreal has approved plans to host a Caribbean carnival parade this summer, bringing relief to members of the city's Caribbean communities. Last year's annual Carifiesta parade was cancelled due to the city denying it a permit, but a new organization and a new name could make this year's event even bigger. However, the Port of Montreal's strategic location has made it a hub for exporting stolen cars, with its large container volume and links to the Greater Toronto Area. Criminals take advantage of the sheer volume of merchandise moving through the port, with around 1.7 million containers transiting through the port, including a significant percentage of Canada's legal vehicle exports last year.
