In response to a question from NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Marc Miller said Thursday during question period that the federal government is waiting on Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow to provide “receipts” for housing of asylum seekers in the city. The government had promised $97 million in assistance after it was reported that many asylum seekers were sleeping on the streets due to a lack of housing.
