The 18-hectare fire is burning on the north side of Highway 3, about 54 kilometres southeast of Hope and 40 kilometres southwest of Princeton.

Fire crews from the town of Manning may not be doing firefighting but they are keeping busy with patrols and acting as eyes on the ground in case the Battle Complex Wildfire, which is burning close to the town, rages out of control.

The Alberta government said hot, dry and windy conditions fueling the northern wildfires aren't going away soon and will make fighting the fires difficult, so people need to prepare themselves.
