Pipeline protesters spent Monday taking down their tents and gathering up supplies at a rail blockade along Route 126 in Harcourt, N.B.

Demonstrators confronted each other across rail tracks in Saskatoon. Police kept them separated.

The blockades are responses by Indigenous people and supporters to a move by the RCMP to clear protesters who had been blocking access to the pipeline worksite.

The union, which represents 3,200 workers, provided the 72-hour notice today as contract negotiations continue over the weekend.

Criticism is being leveled against Via Rail as it works to improve accessibility for people who use wheelchairs and other mobility aids.

A deadline is looming for Via Rail to change its policies and allow more than one person travelling in a wheelchair at a time on its trains, or prove that doing so would be far too difficult.
