Lockdown or hold and secure lifted at a dozen Toronto schools after person with gun reported

Toronto police say multiple schools that were either in lockdown or a hold and secure after a person with a gun was reported in the area have been lifted.

Police said the call came in just before 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Danforth and Cambridge avenues area. Just after 1 p.m., police said those schools affected were clearing.

Police released a long list of a dozen schools that were under lockdown or a hold and secure for that time period. Here is the list:

  • City Adult Learning Centre
  • Rosedale Heights School of the Arts
  • Jackman Avenue Jr PS
  • Franklin CS
  • Montcrest School
  • Withrow Avenue Jr PS
  • Bluebird Montessori
  • Holy Name Catholic School
  • Eastdale CI
  • Westwood Middle School
  • Chester PS
  • Rose Avenue Junior Public School

Police said City Adult Learning Centre was cleared by the ETF (emergency task force). Officers would remain on scene to help parents reunite with students.

Investigators said they had initial information that a student was allegedly seen in the school earlier with a gun.

ETF has cleared the school and the student was not found. The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
