EDMONTON – A 28-year-old Edmonton man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of his 23-year-old friend, Nicholas Kyriacou.
Police were responding to a report of a gunshot in the area of 25 Avenue and 46 A Street around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, when they found Kyriacou wounded. He died in hospital later that day.
After interviewing a number of people who were in the home at the time, as well as neighbours, police have charged Mohamed Hassan Sheikh Ahmed.

“There was some indication of a minor argument between the two; and there was, we believe, some horsing around with a firearm that resulted in the death of a young man,” said Staff Sgt. Bill Clark.
Both men were known to police.
The suspect faces the following charges: manslaughter with a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, and fail to comply with a probation order.
This was Edmonton’s 24th homicide of the year, and third one this week. In the 23rd homicide, a son was charged with killing his father. The city’s 22nd homicide remains unsolved.
