REGINA – The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region (RQHR) has secured a last minute arrangement to keep the Pasqua Hospital ER department open 24 hours a day.
RQHR ER doctors have agreed to work additional shifts until a reliable and effective replacement service is available and new doctors are recruited for the ER
“This is very good news for Regina patients, and we thank all of our physicians and partners for their assistance in resolving this situation,” said Dr. David McCutcheon, vice president Physician and Integrated Health Services.

Previously it was announced that the Pasqua Hospital ER department would have to close during overnight hours for three months due to a doctor shortage.
“We have seen a reduction in the number of people using the Pasqua Hospital and the Regina General Hospital emergency departments since the announcement of the impending temporary closure was announced,” McCutcheon said. “We want to thank the public for seeking alternative community resources for their non-urgent health care needs and we will continue to work with our community colleagues to ensure these additional resources continue to be available.”
Patients who believe they are in need of emergency service should go to the Pasqua ER where they will be seen quickly but should consider using an alternate service like the Meadow Primary Health Care Centre if possible.
