Police say they are investigating an aggravated assault that has resulted in the death of a man who was found unresponsive on the Halifax waterfront on Sunday night.
In a release Monday morning, Halifax police said the incident took place on the waterfront boardwalk near the 1500 block of Lower Water Street at about 9:40 p.m. on Sunday.
“The victim was transported to hospital with what is believed to be life-threatening injuries,” police said in an initial release.
In an update on Monday night, police said the 26-year-old victim died due to his injuries.
“At this time, police are not in a position to release the name of the victim,” an updated statement said Monday.
Police said members from the special investigations section of the integrated criminal investigation division are investigating the case and are asking anyone with information to please come forward.
There were no details given on any arrests or what led to the incident.
