RCMP said officers were called to a collision just before midnight Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 881 between Range Road 132 and 133.

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified dead person, and the suspect vehicle had driven off, RCMP said.

Police are asking body shops in the area to call police if they are asked to service a vehicle that has damage that may be consistent with this type of incident.

Investigators are asking for anyone who may have been in the area between 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. and noticed any suspicious vehicles or people to contact Lac La Biche RCMP at 780-404-2500. Those with a dashcam are also asked to review the footage.

RCMP said officers are still investigating the cause of the collision.
