Newfoundland, Labrador under winter storm warning

It’s going to be a blustery and snowy day Thursday for Newfoundlanders as a low pressure system moves into the area.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning from Norman Bay to Connaigre, calling for 15 to 30 cm of snow. Snowfall amounts may be higher over elevated terrain.

On the west coast, south coast, northern Peninsula and Notre Dame Bay, wind gusts of between 100 and 120 km/h are expected later in the evening.

In Gander and the surrounding area, there may be rain or snow as it lies within the transition area, though a rainfall warning has been issued.

Meanwhile, Inverness County, Sydney and Victoria County in New Brunswick are all under wind warnings.

The adverse weather is expected to making driving conditions dangerous.
