Rich Coleman? There’s an app for that.
The Fort Langley-Aldergrove MLA and Housing Minister is the first B.C. MLA to have his own app.
Called Coleman Country, the free app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch allows those who want it to have the minister’s Twitter feed, news releases, photos, YouTube videos, facts and contact info at their fingertips.
“Accountability and communication go hand in hand, and the Coleman Country app will help people keep track of my work as an MLA and minister,” said Coleman. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to connect with voters in a new way.”
Coleman is just one of many politicians using social media to target voters. To keep up with an increasingly connected public, blogs, Facebook and Twitter have become common political tools.
The Coleman Country app is only available for Apple products. Coleman said response to its release will determine if it is expanded to Blackberry, Droid and other mobile platforms.
No tax dollars were used to create the app, although it does pull from already-existing government information feeds.
