WATCH: Sparks fly in Question Period over newly released court documents
OTTAWA – The Senate expense scandal is back in the spotlight, and is sure to once again dominate question period today in the House of Commons.
The opposition parties are clamouring for answers after the Mounties filed new court documents that revealed who was in the loop in the Prime Minister’s Office about a $90,000 payment from Nigel Wright, Harper’s former chief of staff, to Sen. Mike Duffy for his questionable living expense claims.

The prime minister won’t be in the Commons. Instead, he’ll be in Lac-Megantic, Que., site of the fiery train derailment that killed 47 people and levelled the town core this past summer.
Stephen Harper’s visit comes a day after his government announced it will force railways to provide municipalities with information about dangerous goods being transport through their communities.

Among the other events transpiring today in Ottawa:
— Statistics Canada will release numbers indicating how many people applied for and received employment insurance benefits in September.
— The Supreme Court of Canada will say whether it intends to hear an appeal from Quebec on whether Ottawa should be allowed to destroy the province’s data from the now-scrapped federal gun registry.
— The high court will also issue a decision in the appeal of Quebec’s Sovereign insurance company of convictions for illegally enlisting other insurance companies as brokers.
