“DID YOU KNOW”

Saskatchewan Baseball player “CHRISTIAN KOWALCHUK” plays at the highest college baseball level you can play at with one of the top teams in the NCAA Div.1 University of Arkansas Razorbacks. NCAA Div.1 has 302 programs across the US of which only eight teams qualify to the College World Series each year. In 2009 the Razorbacks were one of the eight teams in the College World Series, finishing tied for 3rd and as a result “CHRISTIAN KOWALCHUK” was the first Saskatchewan baseball player in Saskatchewan’s history to ever play in a College World Series and the only Canadian playing in the 2009 College World Series. He also plays in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), which is one of the premier conferences in the nation, that has 12 quality teams. In the SEC he is one of two Canadian Baseball players on active rosters and the only Cana¬dian pitcher in the league.

Christian’s first two years of college baseball was with one of US’s top NJCAA D-1 programs that is considered one of the top 25 pro¬grams across the US. Seward County Community College Saints baseball program located in Liberal, KS is under the direction of Head Baseball Coach and Director of Athletics, Galen McSpadden. Christian was the first baseball player in SCCC’s history to sign with the Razorbacks. While attending Seward County, Christian was the recipient of the team’s Wade Johnstone Award, selected to the first NJCAA Freshman All-Star team, played two summers of semi-pro baseball with the Liberal (KS) Bee Jays, and played two years in the National Baseball Congress World Series with one of those years under Major League Baseball player and manager, Mike Hargrove.
