REGINA – It’s an announcement many Saskatchewan parents have been waiting for. We’re just hours away now from hearing all the details of the province’s plan to address bullying issues.
Education Minister Don Morgan did tell Global News late last month that this would not be a legislation change, but instead a comprehensive school program that would involve sensitivity training for parents and teachers to help understand when a student is in trouble.
“We will never as a province ever eliminate bullying,” said Morgan. “But, what we’d like to have is some good tools in place to be able to have an understanding of where parents and students can go.”
MLA Jennifer Campeau has been travelling the province, speaking with parents, students and educators to get an idea of what will help them.
Morgan and Campeau will release this report titled, “Saskatchewan’s Action Plan to Address Bullying and Cyber Bullying” Thursday afternoon at Arcola Community School.
