2 people found dead in Spruce Cliff: Calgary police

Police are investigating the deaths of two people Saturday evening in Spruce Cliff, near the Shaganappi golf course in Calgary.

Global News has learned that the deaths are being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.

Shortly after 7 p.m., police were called to a medical collapse in the 0-100 block of Spruce Place S.W. where one person was found dead. While assessing the situation, police found another dead body.

Global News spoke with neighbours who said they heard a scream and came out to see what happened. They said they saw an unresponsive woman face down on a pathway with her hands and feet tied.

Emergency crews attended to the woman when they arrived on scene. It was at this time the neighbours then witnessed a second person jump from a balcony. These details have not been confirmed by police.

Police said that, while the incident happened in a public area, there is no risk to the public. There are supports available to anyone who witnessed the incident, including the Victim Assistance Support Team, a free service for victims of crime or tragedy. VAST can be reached at 403-428-8398.
