Police are warning the public after nails were found at a playground in Toronto.
Toronto police said on Thursday, officers were called to the area of College and Lippincott streets.
Officers said 15 construction nails were reportedly found throughout the playground at Kensington Community School.
“This is a serious hazard for children playing in the park,” police said in a news release. “Parents are asked to use extreme caution when their children are playing in the park.”
Police told Global News the nails were “scattered throughout the park,” adding that the incident is “believed to be deliberate.”

In an letter to families, Doug Lay, the acting principal of the school, said daycare staff found the nails in “various spots on our playground and in planters on school property.”
Lay said police were contacted and are investigating.

“Thankfully, no one has been injured and all the nails have been cleared from school grounds,” the letter read.
Lay said police will be “increasing their surveillance of our school and surrounding community,” adding that their presence may be noticed over the weekend and into next week.
“We would like to assure families that school caretakers complete routine checks of the school grounds each day before school starts,” the letter read. “We will also implement periodic checks during the school day as required.”
