Toronto police say a man has life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in north Etobicoke on Thursday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Jamestown Crescent and John Garland Boulevard, near Finch Avenue and Martingrove Road, just before 9 a.m.
Toronto Police Duty Insp. Craig Young told reporters that the victim went to a local school in the area asking staff for help due to wounds on his upper body.
Greenholme Junior Middle School was in a hold and secure but Young said the stabbing did not happen at the school.
“At no time was the school at risk, or were the students at risk,” Young said, adding the hold and secure was out of an abundance of caution. “There was no risk to any students at any time.”
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was transported to hospital via an emergency run in life-threatening condition, police said.
No weapon has been recovered, police said.
In an update posted to Twitter at 4:41 p.m., police said a suspect had been located and arrested.
