MONTREAL – A teenaged boy convicted of killing his older brother has been denied bail.
The 13-year-old shot his 16-year-old brother last January in their Dorval home.
On Friday, the crown prosecutor argued the boy poses a risk to public safety and should be held in custody until a judge determines his sentence.
Although the crown and defence have agreed the boy did not intend to kill or injure his brother, the court has heard the boy had adopted a criminal lifestyle in the months before the incident.
In September, the teen pleaded guilty to a number of charges, including criminal negligence causing death, armed robbery and a count of robbery.
He faces a maximum sentence of three years in a youth detention centre, minus time served.
