Fire crews arrived at the scene just after 4 a.m. to find the back side of a section of the eight-unit complex at West Park Drive and Woodsmere Close on fire, said Fort Saskatchewan fire chief Todd Martens.

The Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department was able to get the fire under control around 9 a.m., however the two middle units are a complete loss, said Martens.

“There’s always challenges with townhouses being how close they are together and how fast they spread,” he said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but an investigation is underway. All residents were able to get out of their homes safely and there are no reported injuries, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP said in a news release Sunday morning.
