Vancouver Public Library holding one week long amnesty program

Got a long overdue library book or DVD from the Vancouver Public Library sitting around your home? Well, this week is your chance to return it, no questions asked, and most importantly, no fine.

In an effort to get some of the 10,000 items it loses each year back in circulation, the Vancouver Public Library is declaring a week long amnesty on long overdue fines.

This is “Welcome Back Week,” where you can clear your literary conscience.

Last year, someone dropped off a vinyl record last checked out in November 1952.

The library estimates it loses 10,000 items every year, and as much as they want those pieces back, they say they want the customers more. To get both, it’s going to cost in lost revenue.

Whether you have overdue DVDs, CDs, audio books or traditional books, it might be time to go through the attic or book shelves. You have exactly one week.
