SASKATOON – The Saskatchewan Trails Association (STA) has announced its grant program Tuesday to enhance the province’s recreational trails.

Saskatchewan trails offer affordable recreational opportunities for residents and tourists to enjoy activities such as hiking, biking and snowmobiling.

“Many trails are in need of some attention and this funding will help to ensure that trails are properly maintained and enjoyable for all users,” says STA President Cathy Watts.

The Discretionary Funding Grant covers up to 60 per cent, up to $500, of the total costs required to maintain and upgrade existing trails.

The focus is to fund maintenance activities such as updating maps, GPS trails, signage and purchasing maintenance tools.

Funding can’t be used to pay for food expenditures, subsidizing wages and/or property taxes.

The grant is open to STA members with application deadlines on Oct. 31 and March 15.
