Police have released the name of a suspect in their investigation into a double homicide in Chilliwack, B.C., on Thursday.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said Eric John Shestalo, 50, is wanted in connection with a targeted shooting that left two women dead.
“(Shestalo) is still at large and considered armed and dangerous,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti said.
“IHIT is urging the public to use caution, not approach Shestalo and to contact 911 immediately.”
Shestalo was last seen driving a red 1990 Jeep YJ, which appears to have a yellow-painted front end and may have a B.C. licence plate, MT981W.
“We believe the suspect was known to (the victims),” Pierotti said. “In terms of the exact relationship — that’s what we are trying to get to the bottom of.”
He said police are looking to speak with anyone that knows Shestalo or the victims, including for background information.
“Right now, we are looking at the potential he could be anywhere. We are working with our partners throughout the Lower Mainland and B.C.’s Interior.”
Police describe Shestalo as five feet nine inches, 176 pounds, and last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants and a black hat with an orange brim.
Mounties responded to reports of gunshots at a home in the 9700 block of McNaught Avenue in Chilliwack on Wednesday morning.
Officers found one woman dead and a second woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. She later died in hospital, police said.
A third victim, a man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are looking for any video taken between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the area at around 11 a.m. that day.
