TORONTO – Members of Markham Council and a citizen’s group will unveil results of a city-wide survey regarding the proposed financial framework of the Markham arena Friday afternoon.

The survey was conducted over the summer and asked residents about their thoughts on how to fund the 20,000-seat NHL-sized arena.

The proposed entertainment complex will be located north of Highway 407, between Warden Avenue and Kennedy Road.

Markham city council voted earlier this year to keep a plan to contribute public money of up to $325 million to build the project.

An gradual property tax increase has been discussed to pay for the costs.

More than 100,000 copies of the survey were handed out to households in the Markham area.
