REGINA – Creative Saskatchewan is now open for business.
The board and staff are rolling out investment funding to support projects in Saskatchewan’s arts industries.
The provincial government announced this agency shortly after cutting the film employment tax credit.
Officials say this model will provide funding to more than just the film industry.
The board has $5 million dollars at its disposal.
Artists can apply for money to support their projects starting October 16th.
“This will allow Saskatchewan creative entrepreneurs to get out into the world and show how great they are, and develop new markets and sell their products,” said Mike MacNaughton, Chair of Creative Saskatchewan’s Board.
The guidelines to apply are already up on their website. He thinks the rules are broad enough to incorporate a large number of our province’s artists.
“We expect to grow the economic impact of creative industries in Saskatchewan,” he said. “That’s our goal.”
The agency is still looking for a permanent CEO who will match its vision of enabling creative industry.
