2 killed in New Brunswick crash involving car, school bus

Two men, aged 65 and 27, have died after a collision between a school bus and a passenger vehicle in New Brunswick Tuesday afternoon.

In a release Wednesday, the RCMP said members of the Campbellton RCMP and the Charlo Fire Department responded to the collision on Route 11 in Charlo around 12:15 p.m.

“Once on scene, police located the two occupants of the car deceased inside the vehicle,” the release said. “The driver of the school bus, along with three students that were on board at the time of the collision did not sustain serious injuries.”

The driver and two of the students were taken to hospital as a precaution.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick coroner’s office are assisting with the investigation and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.

“The RCMP expresses their condolences to the men’s family and friends, and are working with the Anglophone North School District and other agencies involved to ensure the proper support services are offered,” the release said.
