The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was deployed to Abbotsford, B.C., Tuesday morning after a man was shot and killed inside a home.
Abbotsford police said officers were first called to the home in the 3500 block of Latimer Street around 10 p.m. Monday.
When they arrived, they found a 41-year-old man in the lower level of the home suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Despite efforts by first responders, the man died at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Chad Colivas, according to IHIT.
They are releasing his name to further their investigation and want to speak to Colivas’ friends and associates in an effort to build a timeline of his activities in the days leading up to his death.
“We are in the infancy stages of our investigation; however, the early indications suggest that Mr. Colivas’ death is not associated to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict,” IHIT spokesperson Det. Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi said in a release. “These are complex files and we urge anyone with information to come forward to assist us in gathering answers for Mr. Colivas’ family.”
A nearby resident who did not want to be identified told Global News they heard some gunshots and then the sound of tires squealing away.
No suspects have been identified at this time.
IHIT investigators are asking for any witnesses, dashcam or CCTV footage from the area of 3500-block of Latimer Street, Abbotsford from Monday, March 21, between 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
