“These antennas will prove to be a powerful and cost-effective tool to help address issues of importance relative to the safety, security and economic prosperity of all Canadians,” said Randy Hoback, Member of Parliament for Prince Albert.

The investment is expected to improve the nation’s capacity for complete cross-country coverage in emergencies, navigation and environmental monitoring.

A $1.1 million contract to develop a new data management system was recently awarded to Newfoundland and Labrador’s Compusult Ltd.

The system ensures secured accessibility and safeguards information received at Canadian satellite stations.
