Durham Regional Police say a second-degree murder charge has been laid against a 72-year-old woman after the body of another woman was found in north Pickering.
Police said on Sunday at around 10:30 p.m. officers located the body in a densely wooded area near Concession Road 9 and Sideline 28.
“The death is being treated as suspicious,” police said in a news release on Monday morning.

Forensics were called in and a post-mortem examination of the woman will be conducted to confirm her identity and cause of death.
In an update Monday afternoon, police said they have charged a woman from Clarington with second-degree murder.
A residence was secured on Fairway Drive, near Wilmot Creek, in Clarington for evidence, police said.
The identity of the woman charged and of the victim were not released.
