Tractor trailer tanker crashes into Toronto east end home

Toronto police say a tractor trailer crashed into a house Monday night but that there were no injuries.

Police said the crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. on O’Connor Drive, near Sunrise Avenue.

Investigators said that there were people in the home at the time the tanker, filled with gas, crashed into the house but that no one inside was injured.

There is extensive damage to the home as the tanker went right through the side of it. The house is being looked at for structural integrity.

Toronto firefighters had to extricate the driver of the tanker, fire officials said. The driver had minor lacerations and was taken to hospital.

Fire officials said the tractor trailer was leaking diesel fuel but the tanker loaded with fuel was not leaking. The fuel from the tanker had to be transferred to another tanker, officials added.

The circumstances of how the crash occurred are not yet known.
